Welcome to the website of the Coptic Olympics!
The 2014 Coptic Olympics is coming…
WHAT IS THE COPTIC OLYMPICS?
Our mission is to bring Christ’s children together in unity of spirit so that we may glorify His name (and have loads of fun competing in several sports too!). The sports competition is of course an integral part of the Coptic Olympics but is only a tool to help fulfil our mission and is not the key focus. Accordingly, all aspects of the Coptic Olympics have this mission at its core e.g. the points system adds together the sports results but also takes into account Christian Sportsmanship
WHEN AND WHERE WILL IT BE?
The Committee will usually announce the provisional event date in February and confirm it in March/April. The home of the Coptic Olympics is the Coptic Centre in Birmingham (the centre is no state-of-the-art facility but provides the adequate space, facilities and friendly atmosphere).
HOW MUCH IS IT?
One of the key founding principles of the Coptic Olympics is it is a free event to attend, we do not sell tickets; we feel this will help us better achieve our mission of gathering as many as we can in unity of spirit. Traditionally there are fundraising activities and food stalls to help cover the costs of the event.
WHO CAN ATTEND / ENTER?
The Coptic Olympics is an open event to everyone in the family from any Church (entered or not). Churches that have traditionally entered teams are:
- Birmingham (Blue)
- Llandudno (Orange)
- Manchester (Red)
- Nottingham (White)
WHO IS IN CHARGE?
The Coptic Olympics is organised and put together by the cross-church Coptic Olympics Committee. The committee is made up of the C.O. Board, Church representatives, the team managers, referees and administration staff.
HOW CAN I HELP?
Remember this ministry in your prayers! The Committee is always in need of more volunteers, so if you want to help, please let us know!
